Treatment For Bed Bugs

The psychological distress that stems from an infestation makes bed bugs one of the most feared pest problems for home and business owners. These tiny pests spread exceptionally easily, feed on blood, and are impossible to control without the help of a professional exterminator. At CJB Pest and Mosquito Control, our technicians are highly educated and have years of experience in bed bug elimination. Since we are a “bed bug-free” certified business, our treatment program provides you with the best technique available to rid your home, condo, or apartment of bed bugs. When it comes to bed bug control, our team will:

  • Thoroughly inspect your home or business to identify the main source of the infestation as well as where the bed bugs are hiding.

  • Provide encasements for your bed and traps for your bed frame which are essential in the quick elimination of bed bugs.

  • Utilize steam (heat) for couches and furniture.

  • Implement a two step residual treatment to all the areas bed bugs will either hide or travel across. We use only the best materials (based on scientific research) on the market.

  • And more

When it comes to our proven treatments for bed bugs, our experts will be able to assure you that your home or business is, in fact, clear of an infestation. We will leave an information sheet detailing what to expect and then how to best prevent future problems. These few simple steps can help you protect your family and your home from bed bugs.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) are small, flat, oval-shaped insects that are approximately 5-7 mm long. They are white, almost clear in color after they hatch and before they feed. Then they become a shiny reddish brown to dark brown color after feeding. They enter into the home via person or objects such as previously owned furniture, clothing or in luggage from a recent trip. Adult Bed Bugs typically live 6 to 7 months, but can live up to 1.5 years if in the right conditions. They can lay up to 10 eggs per day and development from egg to adult normally takes 35 to 50 days (5 stages each, requiring a blood meal) depending on temperature and conditions.

Identifying A Bed Bug Infestation

Are you noticing blood smears on the sheets or pillowcases, feces (dried blood specs), dried out skin casings, or actual bites on your body? If so, you have evidence of a bed bug infestation. Some of the most common areas to find bites are: hands, forearms, back, calves , neck, and shoulders.

More often than not, their bites are grouped in some small area of your body. These bites look like small raised or flat areas, which will feel inflamed, itchy, blistered, and red (depending on the sensitivity of the skin). Bed Bug bites are sometimes not visible immediately, but the signs will be visible after a few days. Remember not everyone shows the same reactions after a bed bug bite.

Where Do You Find Bed Bugs?

The most common areas to find them are places immediately relating to the bed and surrounding furniture. Over time they multiply and can spread to any small crevice or cluttered space they can find to hide and find their next victim. Couches, love seats, and leisure chairs are popular hiding areas as well. Hiding places are evident when black or brown fecal spots are found on surfaces where the bugs hide or rest. Self- treating will often make it worse, more spread out and more difficult to eliminate. Bed bugs are resistant to most over the counter products or gimmicks.
